The
word Reiki comes from the Japanese words "Rei" (spirit) and
"Ki" (energy or life force, often written in the Chinese form
“chi”). Reiki treatment focuses and directs the universal
life force to support the healing process naturally, by realigning and
strengthening the human energy field. Because it utilizes "spiritual"
energy, Reiki can support healing on the physical, emotional, mental
and/or spiritual levels. Reiki assists with pain management, stress
reduction, anxiety, grief, and many other health issues. It is widely
used all over the world in hospices, nursing homes, hospitals, and elsewhere;
often as a beneficial adjunct to conventional medical care.
About my Reiki practice
As
a Usui Reiki Master, I can perform treatments in person
or at a
distance. Home and hospital visits may be arranged.
During "hands-on" treatment I place my hands lightly in specific
positions on the client's body and/or in the energy field around the
body. The client may lie down or sit comfortably. There is no need to
disrobe. My role is simply to act as a conduit through which Reiki (universal
life force energy) can support and assist in the client's healing.
During distant treatment I use Reiki symbols along with the client's
name (and picture, if
available),
to help me focus on the client and perform the healing treatment. The
distance between me
and the client is irrelevant: like prayer, Universal Life Force energy
is a "non-local" phenomenon that transcends time and space.
Reiki treatments
are completely safe and non-intrusive. Clients usually experiences subtle,
enjoyable sensations like relaxation, calm and warmth. There is no "diagnosis"
or any deliberate removal of "energy blocks." My only intention
is to be a pure channel for the healing Reiki energy. The client's body
always absorbs and distributes the energy exactly as needed. And since
the Reiki energy does not come from me, I often feel energized and strengthened
by the treatment just as the client does.
